Peace to Owl

Whatever you wear with a beanie and sunglasses will end up looking cool in my opinion. Ripped jeans and leather jacket sound right to me. Add these 4 elements together, plus a little bonus:  awesome booties, now what do you think?

I recently found a winter holiday Gap sweater I had gotten maybe 6 years ago in my closet. I tried it on and found that when paired with normal items (not Christmas related) it looks pretty nice. We don't even notice the snowflakes anymore, the hoodie with the leather jacket makes it edgy plus this sweater is super warm. I like to see the entire shoe to see its details, I don't want it to be covered that's why I simply rolled up my jeans bottom once. It now looks like long ankle pants.

Chic-O Sunday

Flowery skirt, sunny day, windy, no snow, thin coat ... feels like real Spring time right? NOT it was more like -10 degrees I was actually freezing cold. I usually dress very well according to the weather outside (I am not kidding, I once had 2 girls come up to me after class to tell me how they found I always dress perfectly well according to the weather).

All I do every morning is open my front door, stick my head out and feel the vibe .... ya know.. And then I hit the shower and get dressed ... that's how I roll.

So here is my definition of a chic daily outfit. What makes the outfit chic is the bag (fine..mother's bag), the coat and zee boots. What makes it not so chic? The jean shirt, it adds colour and texture. SO to dress it down even more? Simply add colours and different fabrics.

If I would be going out at night, I would have worn just black underneath (it would have dressed up the whole thing even more). Enough said, enjoy the Spring illusion..!

Super size me

How to dress up fur? Wear it on black clothes. How to dress down fur? Wear it with colorful things. That is how I roll with fur.

I am wearing my sleeveless fur vest that I have worn a couple of times now on the blog. I wore it over my khaki spring parka (previously worn here). The coat is very thin, it's okay for wind but it's too light for cold weather. Adding the fur vest to it makes it warmer and is still comfortable in the sense that I'm not stuck in my coat.

I always purchase my sweaters/t-shirts/vests/coats in Large (very rarely in medium, well depending on the model obviously but never will I get a top in Small).

WHY?!

One. I know that somehow my "precious" pieces of clothing (the ones that say DRY CLEAN ONLY, that I still machine wash.. but dry naturally) will end up the dryer by mistake. What happens then one may ask,  IT SHRINKS !!

Two.  To each their taste, I prefer loose tops to tight ones. I normally like to balance tight and loose, and considering I mostly wear skinny jeans, I balance it out with a loose shirt.

Last but not least, three. Purchasing  large tops gives me the flexibility to play with them. In this case, if I had gotten my fur vest in size Small (which according to standards is my size, but only if I wear them over thin shirts) I wouldn't have been able to put it over my khaki parka.

*TIP OF THE DAY* Wearing looser tops, makes you look slimmer than wearing something too tight. But then again "loose" does not mean blanket. The line is thin between loose and too loose, when something is simply too big, you may look oversize, so BEWARE !

I am wearing this Zara jean shirt/dress. It's a bit long and I tuck it in my leggings for a loose jean shirt look.

Leopard

The sun appeared for the first time in at least 7 days today! It felt amazing! I truly believe spring is around the corner and I can't wait for the snow left to melt! (No hate to skiers, snow can stay up North til summer if wanted).

Anywho, back to me (ahah). Ever since I was a child, I was never a big fan of leopard print. It would remind me of my grand mother's friends wearing way  too much jewelry matching their sequin. In my head leopard anything was a big NO NO. It fell in the "tacky" category.

It's been what 2 years now that animal print has been the new big thing. To the extent that cow print is now IN.  All this to say that after seeing animals everywhere, leopard print is now growing on me. I can even say that I can easily purchase leopard accessories in all integrity!

In the pictures, I'm wearing a cashemere sweater with a simili-leopard design print. It adds a bit of funkiness to my look. I'm also wearing my sister's Uniqlo coat that we got in NYC last year for peanuts of it's initial price (yayy to sales in the states!)

How do you people feel about animal prints??

Skin-Showing

So I heard the trend nowadays is ANKLE PANTS (longer than 3/4 pants but shorter than actual pants). Funny thing, most of my pants end up becoming ankle pants (tall girl problem). During summer I simply roll once the bottom of my pants so it looks natural and no one notices the short length of my pants. I had hesitated last fall to buy these faux cuire pants exactly for that reason, they were too short on me. I finally bought them telling myself I would simply wear them with boots and it will be fine for fall and winter. Happy that trends are working in my favour and now I can wear these all spring long. It's still pretty cold in Montreal I wore a big wool turtleneck and the structured Mango coat.

BACK TO THE SKIN ACTION I got these booties on sale from Zara, I like how short they are and that they can easily pass for shoes. As far as I like the ankle-skin-showing, my sister was NOT a fan of it..

What do you guys think? Cool or awkward look??

In the mood for ...

Céline Vans en Leopard

Alexander Wang Rockie Beige Bag

Co Blue Raccoon Fur Coat

 Lara Melchior Gold Ring

I feel like buying all these items listed at the top and pairing them all individually with this black outfit (would make me 4 fun outfits). The first 4 photos are all detailed enough elements to stand out on their own. The simplest combination I believe would be with black clothing or else you it may fall in the "no no section-too much/trying too hard" and nobody wants that right!  If I would only buy the sneakers (1st photo) and the all black outfit (last photo), my budget would exceed $3000. Now ideally I would want to get the best quality leggings and tees but in my case I have a similar stuff from much cheaper brands and well.. not as good quality.

All this to say,  the basic elements (last photo) probably won't end up in my closet any time soon.  The fun part is (in my opinion) to get one fun, funky high-end item and pair it with basic simple pieces . The nice quality piece of clothing or accessory will do the trick to raise the entire outfit to a whole new level!
