More Vintage Goodies
I borrowed these two bags from my grandmother last week. These two babies are about 60 years old. My great grandmother had them made for my grandma's wedding trousseau. The burgundy one is made of crocodile skin and has a classic 1950s shape (still inspiring designers today). The navy one is made of lizard skin. It used to have a short navy leather strap. My grandma meant to replace it but she forgot about it. I would wear it as a clutch or find a long strap to wear it more casually (on an every day basis).
*TIP OF THE DAY* What is important about vintage leathers/skins/furs is that you have to take care of them. They have to be well protected before being stored. For leathers and skins (like these bags for instance), put them in felt bags in a box. The bags need to be flat in the box (don't bend the handles) and put them away in a closet away from heat, moisture or freezing temperatures. It may seem obvious, but I've seen people putting them away in plastic bags (without oxygen, the colours may change). If any of you have better tips or ideas, please share them! It's always super helpful!!

I will be posting an outfit soon with these goodies, any suggestions with what to wear them??

The Chic Version
This outfit is a chicer way to wear this short vintage fur coat than here, but still without being over the top. I wore a simple black turtleneck dress, I kept this outfit very basic. I have my usual studded boots on and a beanie hat to dress down the whole thing and to add a hint of colour. This is my version of casual/chic to go out to a restaurant at night when its still -15 degrees and full of snow/ice outside.
We ended up going to Bevo it was my first time there, it's a restaurant in the heart of Montreal's old port. Since it's the old city most of the buildings are in stone. Here they kept the historic aspect with inside stone walls, and combined the whole thing into a modern-chic feel. They melt the place into some kind of hip-Italian-restaurant-with-an-atmosphere. It made it a bit too commercial to my taste. The food was good, it's an Italian restaurant therefore I should have ordered pasta or pizza but we went really late so I did not want to have something too heavy (I still tasted the pizza margherita which was lither than I had expected). I had the red snapper, it was good with rappinis and couscous, nothing crazy a bit overpriced in my opinion. Overall if you like the concept, its not bad!

Furco (bar)
Yesterday late afternoon. I went to Furco with a few friends. I often go to this new (around 6-month old) place at around 10-11pm on Thursdays. It's the first time I go for a 5 à 7 there. I get there at 5 sharp and there is already a lineup of around 25 people outside. I couldn't believe it. I think it's the only place in town where there is at lineup at 4h45 in the afternoon.
*Tip of the Day* If you're aiming for a 5 à 7 and you have a fetish for men in suits, FURCO is THE place to be. I saw more suits yesterday afternoon than in any bank or Harry Rosen. It is located in the heart of downtown Montreal, walking distance from all big businesses.
What's cool about the place is that the crowd varies depending on the hour you get there. At night there's a nice combination of people in their early 20s to late 30s VS late afternoon, it's very business-like BUT FUN business-like. It's also one of the rare places in Montreal where there are as many Francophones as there are Anglos. The choice of music is an eclectic one, varying from RnB to old school, to fun remixes of pop hits. It's not crazy loud but you need to semi-shout to be heard, and at night, it's a tad louder.
PS. In the 2 pictures I took, I tried capturing as many suits as I could (sorry about the colours I rather not use the flash not to draw too much attention)

Now about the "outfit". I often dress very casual to go to out. I am not a big fan of dressing up too much at night to bars or clubs. I like to be comfortable, and I would hate to look as if I were trying too hard. I usual have one dressy element in my outfit (this time my coat haha) and I keep the rest casual (unless it's a REAL event). I wore these cool sneakers. I kind of destroyed their original version and re-stud them to my taste. I will do a post about them soon! Peace-OUT

Snow-day (or year)
Equipped for a Montreal Snow Day =
Winter Boots (Moon Boots) + Upgraded Scarf (Fur Collar) + Warm Hat (Beanie) + Winter Sporty Jacket (Scotch and Soda Short Coat for men) + Comfortable Pants (Thick Leggings) + Colourful Item (Bright Jeans Shirt)
Snow (or weather in general) is something quite unpredictable in this city.. It can be warm for a couple of days, and then become freezing cold for a few, and BOOM snow! It's been two days now, and it doesn't seem to want to stop. You always need to be equipped for all kinds of weather. A coat and t-shirt won't be enough because of the wind, so layering is the best option to keep warm.

Under the Bridge
The skirt can be worn any time, under any weather conditions, winter like summer ! It can be classy or edgy, or both! I am wearing a wool Gap sweater, I added the silver studs on the little pocket as a simple detail to it (even though one is lightly crooked..). I borrowed my sister's white lamb jacket (I call it that, but no worries, it's NOT LAMB. However, considering the amount of fur I post, you may assume that I'm a freak in quest of animal skin, but I'm not, most of it is vintage stuff).

Sunny Graffiti
My sister and I drove by this place and had to stop to snap some
pictures. It was so sunny I could barely open my eyes. So here is my
black rabbit fur collar wore differently than in this look.
I sometimes trow it on or wrap it on or pin it on things. In this case I
pinned it to my coat and its really crazy how it completely changes its
original look. (Here
is when I had added a fox collar to the same coat). I stole this fun
sweater from my mom
"I-ve-had-these-forever-and-I-don't-wear-them-anymore-so-i'll-just-put-them-all-here-closet".
Every time she sees me with a piece of clothing from THE closet, I get
the complete story of how old she was when she got it, from where it was
from, of how good of an eye my mom has for clothes and, obviously in
general, and how fabrics were much better back in the day ... and it
goes on. So yes, I love borrowing things from that specific closet
for all these awesome annoying reasons!
